The Exchange, X8, was held Saturday, March 18

South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Rd

About the event: Portland Youth Dance is thrilled to bring The Exchange back to our Maine community!  The Exchange brings together local, street, and studio hip hop dancers to experience the four elements of hip hop, which include DJ, Emcee, BBoys/girls/people, and Graffiti) for this family friendly event.
The first part of the day features dance battles of different categories, including Breakin’ & All Styles. It is a giant inclusive, and positive dance cypher that unites street and studio dancers from across Maine. There will be a graffiti artist work displayed and live DJs/emcees, including Haley from the local radio station Hot 104.7!
There will also be a Choreography Exhibition where hip hop crews of all ages (yes, even adults!) are invited to perform a hip hop dance or related genre of dance.  Email [email protected] if you would like to register your crew/studio for the Exhibition. There is no fee to participate in the Exhibition, but we collect donations to support a partner organization. This year’s recipient will be Spark Dance Program, committed to “dance for every body,” offering dance to people with and without disabilities.
